Why we started
For more than two decades we photographed and filmed weddings as Carroll Photo and Video. And the question we heard more than any other was some version of this one: have you ever worked at our church? Our venue? The park where we want our pictures?
It’s a great question. Every church, ballroom and garden has its own light, its own rules and its own best spots, and you want to know a photographer has handled yours well. But there was no easy way to find out. You had to call or email photographer after photographer and ask, one at a time.
The other options weren’t much help. Many venues keep a “preferred vendor” list, but vendors often pay $300 to $500 to be on it, and sometimes the recommendation goes to a friend rather than the best fit for you. And the big wedding directories charge photographers so much for leads that the listings you see are often the ones who paid the most, not the ones who know your venue.
When we stepped back from shooting weddings ourselves, we saw that nothing had changed for the couples, or for the photographers and videographers still in the business. So we built the thing we always wished existed.
What we built
On Photo and Video Pros, photographers and videographers add their own photos and films from the churches, venues and parks where they’ve actually worked, sorted by ceremony, formal pictures and reception. Choose your city, pick your places, and you’ll see who has worked there, and exactly what their work there looks like.
It’s simple, but it answers the question couples have been asking us for years, without a single phone call.
